This is something really useful....

With the technology like this coming out almost daily, I guess in a year or two, with Smartphone and NFC, we would have pretty much start eliminating...
home keys, car keys, credit cards, loyalty cards (for that matter our wallet itself), credit car accepting consoles (read: square), remote controls, iPods and what not... and have one super-controlling smartphone.

THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF PEOPLE IN THE WORLD

You’ve either started a company or you haven’t. ”Started” doesn’t mean joining as an early employee, or investing or advising or helping out. It means starting with no money, no help, no one who believes in you (except perhaps your closest friends and family), and building an organization from a borrowed cubicle with credit card debt and nowhere to sleep except the office. It almost invariably means being dismissed by arrogant investors who show up a half hour late, totally unprepared and then instead of saying “no” give you non-committal rejections like “we invest at later stage companies.” It means looking prospective employees in the eyes and convincing them to leave safe jobs, quit everything and throw their lot in with you. It means having pundits in the press and blogs who’ve never built anything criticize you and armchair quarterback your every mistake. It means lying awake at night worrying about running out of cash and having a constant knot in your stomach during the day fearing you’ll disappoint the few people who believed in you and validate your smug doubters.

I don’t care if you succeed or fail, if you are Bill Gates or an unknown entrepreneur who gave everything to make it work but didn’t manage to pull through. The important distinction is whether you risked everything, put your life on the line, made commitments to investors, employees, customers and friends, and tried – against all the forces in the world that try to keep new ideas down – to make something new.

Selflessness - the Fukushima 50

The first photos of the Fukushima 50, the team of men currently attempting to prevent a nuclear meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant in Japan, have emerged, and they're simultaneously inspiring and heartbreaking.

On the one hand, the 50, who have since been joined by 150 others, are all that's right in the world, true symbols of selflessness and sacrifice for the greater good. On the other, they're also sad reminders of the horror Japan's recent tsunami wrought—five of the men are already presumed dead, and others have said they're certain the radiation will kill them eventually.

The men's brief messages home have been chilling in their beautiful simplicity and frankness: "Please continue to live well," one of the 50 wrote in an e-mail to his wife. "I cannot come home for a while."

Earthquake-ravaged Highway rebuilt in 3 days... its just an amazing thing to see.

These two photos show the same stretch of road—the Great Kanto branch—three days apart. By March 16th, just three days after the earthquake tore it apart, the road was rebuilt to the condition seen in the photo.

Also, I would like to post here an email I got about things to learn from Japanese.

(Calm) Not a single visual of chest-beating or wild grief. Sorrow itself has been elevated.
(Dignity) Disciplined queues for water and groceries. Not a rough word or a crude gesture.
(Ability) The incredible architects, for instance. Buildings swayed but didn’t fall.
(Grace) People bought only what they needed for the present, so everybody could get something.
(Order) No looting in shops. No honking and no overtaking on the roads. Just understanding.
(Sacrifice) Fifty workers stayed back to pump sea water in the N-reactors. How will they ever be repaid?
(Tenderness) Restaurants cut prices. An unguarded ATM is left alone. The strong cared for the weak.
(Training) The old and the children, everyone knew exactly what to do. And they did just that.
(Media) They showed magnificent restraint in the bulletins. No silly reporters. Only calm reportage.
(Conscience) When the power went off in a store, people put things back on the shelves and left quietly!

These are things worth appreciating.
